Losing it

Posted on April 19, 2010 in Uncategorized, weightloss

No, not my mind. At least not this week.

But I am doing that whole losing weight thing. For a variety of reasons – mainly I miss wearing cute clothes. The other is I am horribly out of shape and can’t keep going on like this. Last year I had signed up for apparently a monthly shipment of Isagenix. A shake and low calorieĀ  weightloss routine my chiropractor recommended.

My former roommate had been on it and lost 20lbs. It didn’t look that appealing to me but I decided to give it a try. I did a lot of research on it online and while it is a total MLM scheme, it also has a full impact of nutritional benefits. Absolutely packed with vitamins, minerals and even some digestive enzymes, it’s pretty much designed to help you lower your caloric intake without sacrificing nutrition.

I am a binge eater, an emotional eater as well as have emotional obesity. I tend to eat when I am bored or stressed and I tend to gain weight when I want to shield myself from whatever is happening in my life.

But I want to get back some control. I’ve been telling myself it is ok to be thin and that I want it. I want it badly. I REALLY want to wear cute clothes. Especially in the summer. No more sweaters!

I had started the Isagenix last year for a week or two but was finding it challenging with trying to fit in meals with Kreg. Well, he’s decided to do it with me. His goal is slightly smaller than mine – 15lbs compared to my massive 80lbs I have to lose but it is wonderful that he is starting this with me.

We’re on Day 2. Day 1 was hard only because I really was jonesing for a snack. Particularly Dill Pickle Baked Old Dutch Chips. Oh wow those are good and you can trick yourself into thinking they aren’t so bad for you because they are lower in calories. Yah. Right.

Today I woke up completely awake. Haven’t felt this way in a really long time. Usually in the mornings I wake up long enough to not drown in the shower, not crash on the road and not miss my Starbucks exit.

But this morning I was up and at ’em.

Our days look like this:

Shake in the morning – we have vanilla flavoured for easy flavour mixing. Yesterday I had Kiwi mixed in and today I had mixed berries.

Lunch – Today I am splurging on a Bacon Carbonara Lean Cuisine with a side salad.

Snacks: Cukes and Celery sticks

Dinner: Another shake.

I also might have some extra protein tonight like a hard boiled egg.

It’s about 1200-1400 calories a day which is the recommended calorie intake for losing the weight I want but I am guaranteeing that I am getting all the vitamins I need to keep me healthy in the process.

I’m excited and a little scared but I can do this. Interested to see if I have that 2pm slump I normally do at work today.
